A family returning to their roots to restore a c.1773 homestead
Welcome to
Root to Rise Farm!
We are Tom and Lizzie Wemyss, the proud owners of a 100-acre, historic farm along the Connecticut River & nestled in the breathtaking landscape of the Northeast Kingdom, Vermont.
Our farm, drenched in 250 years of history, was abandoned, neglected, and in a state of disrepair when we purchased it in August, 2023. For the last 18 months, we’ve poured our hearts and souls into restoring the house, uncovering and tending to the overgrown gardens, and breathing life back into the farm.
We raise heritage Scottish Highland cattle for breeding stock and beef utilizing regenerative farming practices on open pasture, grow heirloom veggies and rustic flowers for our farm stand, and bake artisan sourdough bread and goods while raising our two young daughters and soaking up all the Kingdom has to offer us.

Get a Taste of the Northeast Kingdom At Our Farm Stand
Our Farm Stand is currently still being built out, but will be up and running by the end of June. It will be stocked seasonally with our heirloom vegetables and rustic farm cut flowers. It is open Monday-Friday from 10AM-5PM and is a self-serve honor system.
With epic, panoramic views of the Pilot and Presidential Ranges of the White Mountains and pastoral views of corn fields and Highland cows, it is the perfect place to stop, get out, breathe that fresh Green Mountain air, connect with your food sources, and experience the beauty that makes the Northeast Kingdom so special.
